RESOLUTION
Commending
T. K. and Louise Adams; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
since 1959, T. K. and Louise Adams have been both fixtures and guiding forces in
Newton County; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. T. K. Adams served for 36 years as the band director at Cousins Middle
School; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Louise Adams served the Newton County community as a teacher and later as
principal of Ficquett Elementary School from 1980 to 1995; and
WHEREAS,
both Mr. and Mrs. Adams played important roles in helping Newton County make a
peaceful transition into school integration; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. T. K. Adams started the Newton County Community Band and continues to serve
as its director; and
WHEREAS,
T. K. and Louise Adams were recently honored as the first couple to win the
Newton County Chamber of
Commercés
R. O. Arnold Award for community service and were also honored by being named
recipients of Newton
Countýs
"I Have a Dream" Award.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate T. K. and Louise Adams on the occasion of their
retirement, commend this outstanding couple for their more than four decades of
community service to the citizens of Newton County, and extend to them their
best wishes for continued success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to T. K. and
Louise Adams.
