RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Kennesaw Youth Council and the Acworth Youth Council; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Mayor and Council of the City of Kennesaw formed the Kennesaw Youth Council
in 2003, consisting of eight members who are residents or attend a local area
high school; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Acworth formed their counterpart Youth Council in 2005;
and
WHEREAS,
all members are selected via an open application process and interview session
and, once selected, shall serve for a term of one year with the option to apply
for an additional year or until his or her successor is duly qualified and
appointed; and
WHEREAS,
these Youth Councils have been a great success, inspiring neighboring cities in
Cobb County to form their own youth council; and
WHEREAS,
as a "Youth in Government Initiative," these municipal Youth Councils are very
proactive in their communities and are helping to shape the future leaders of
the State of Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend the Youth Councils of Kennesaw and Acworth for
their resounding success and call upon all citizens, parents, governmental
agencies, public and private institutions, businesses, schools, and universities
in our communities to support the efforts of these Youth Councils.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Youth
Councils of Kennesaw and Acworth.
