A
RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Mr. Raymond Lewis Lambert; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Raymond Lewis Lambert of Rome, Georgia, was born on September 3, 1929, to D.
W. Lambert and Nettie Atkinson Lambert in Cherokee County, Alabama;
and
WHEREAS,
after graduating from McHenry High School, Mr. Lambert honorably served his
country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1949 to 1953;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Lambert enjoyed a highly successful business career and retired from Outside
Carpets International in 1992; and
WHEREAS,
for many years, this civic-minded gentleman was one of Floyd County's most
respected and admired leaders, serving as a Floyd County commissioner from 1965
to 1969 and recently as the chairman of the Floyd County Board of Tax Assessors;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Lambert was a loyal Democrat who was highly active within the party
throughout his life and was a former president of the Young Democrats of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
a devout Christian, Mr. Lambert was a faithful member of Riverside Baptist
Church; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Lambert leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including his wife of 52
years, Carolyn Braden Lambert; his daughter, Susan Lambert; his sons and
daughters-in-law, Tony and Carol Lambert, Randy and Melanie Lambert, and Phil
and Richelle Lambert; his eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua, Jacob, Hannah,
Jalisa, Britney, Noah, and Kaitlyn; and his sisters, Opal Young and Monica
Trapp; and
WHEREAS,
Georgia lost a most estimable citizen and one of its most beloved community
leaders on November 16, 2005, with the passing of Mr. Raymond Lewis
Lambert.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in remembering and honoring the life of Mr. Raymond Lewis Lambert and extend their most sincere condolences to his family and friends.
