A RESOLUTION

Commending Midvale Elementary School on being named a 2006 Georgia School of Excellence; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Midvale Elementary School in DeKalb County has been honored for its scholastic success by being named a 2006 Georgia School of Excellence by the Georgia Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, established in 1984, the Georgia Schools of Excellence program recognizes a stellar school from each congressional district for academic improvement; and

WHEREAS, Midvale Elementary School has gained this prestigious distinction for showing the greatest continuous gains within its district in student achievement in reading and mathematics over a three-year period; and

WHEREAS, this vibrant learning community is one of only 20 schools throughout the state to receive this impressive designation this year; and

WHEREAS, the superlative achievements of Midvale Elementary School have been made possible by the hard work and dedication of the administration led by Principal Dianne Black, teachers, students, and families; and

WHEREAS, as nothing is more important to the General Assembly than the education of our young people, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to recognize Midvale Elementary School on receiving this prestigious award.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Midvale Elementary School on being named a 2006 Georgia School of Excellence and thank its administration, faculty, and staff for their extraordinary service to their students.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Dianne Black, Principal of Midvale Elementary School.
