RESOLUTION
Commending
Evansdale Elementary School on being named a 2006 Georgia School of Excellence;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Evansdale Elementary School in DeKalb County has been honored for its academic
success by being named a 2006 Georgia School of Excellence by the Georgia
Department of Education; and
WHEREAS,
established in 1984, the Georgia Schools of Excellence program recognizes a
stellar school from each congressional district for overall achievement;
and
WHEREAS,
Evansdale Elementary School has gained this prestigious distinction by being the
top performing school in its district and by being among the top 10 percent of
Georgia schools, making it eligible for a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon
Schools Award nomination; and
WHEREAS,
this vibrant learning community is one of only 20 schools throughout the state
to receive this impressive designation this year; and
WHEREAS,
the superlative achievements of Evansdale Elementary School have been made
possible by the hard work and dedication of the administration led by Principal
Joseph S. D'Ambra, teachers, students, and families; and
WHEREAS,
as nothing is more important to the General Assembly than the education of our
young people, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to recognize
Evansdale Elementary School on receiving this prestigious award.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending Evansdale Elementary School on being named a 2006
Georgia School of Excellence and thank its administration, faculty, and staff
for their extraordinary service to their students.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Joseph S.
D'Ambra, Principal of Evansdale Elementary School.
