A RESOLUTION

Remembering and honoring the life of Mr. Adam Michael Stevens; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Adam Michael Stevens of Norcross, Georgia, was born on September 15, 1981, in Asheville, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, he was a graduate of Socastee High School in South Carolina and the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a degree in computer science, and worked as a project manager for Intelliworks, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, passionate about politics, he was highly involved in the Young Democrats of Georgia, beginning with his founding of the Georgia Tech Young Democrats after the 2000 election; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stevens served the Young Democrats of Georgia in a variety of leadership positions, including communications director, vice president of programs, president of the College Democrats of Georgia, and vice president of membership; and

WHEREAS, on the chapter level, Mr. Stevens served as president of the Georgia Tech Young Democrats, communication chair for the Young Democrats of Fulton County, and as founder and president of the Young Democrats of Gwinnett County; and

WHEREAS, known for his outspokenness and fervent dedication to his ideals, Mr. Stevens devoted himself to making the world a better place and was very active in volunteer work on behalf of the homeless of Atlanta and in several local campaigns; and

WHEREAS, this intelligent and talented young man was a member of the marching bands at both his high school and Georgia Tech and was an aspiring Rodeo Saddle Bronc Rider of the Rodeo; and

WHEREAS, he leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including his mother, Jayne Edwards Stevens; his father, C. Michael Stevens; his two sisters, Megan Jayne Stevens and Caitlin Louise Stevens; and his grandparents, Charles and Peggy Stevens; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stevens passed away on March 2, 2006, leaving an unfillable void in the hearts of his many friends and loved ones; and

WHEREAS, all who knew this exceptional gentleman will always remember him with the greatest affection for his tremendous kindness, generosity, and gentle and loving spirit.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together in remembering and honoring the life of Mr. Adam Michael Stevens and extend their most sincere condolences to his family and friends.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Adam Michael Stevens.
