RESOLUTION
Congratulating
Major C. R. (Rodney) Maddox on the occasion of his retirement; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
for 33 years, Major C. R. (Rodney) Maddox has been one of Georgia's most
distinguished law enforcement officers, serving the citizens of DeKalb County
with honor and bravery; and
WHEREAS,
Major Maddox has been a commander in the Tucker Police Precinct since 1999,
where he has earned the respect and admiration of the community for his
leadership, vision, and integrity; and
WHEREAS,
for 25 years he served in the Criminal Investigations Unit in every rank and has
been involved in many high profile cases, such as the Atlanta Child Murders Task
Force and the Derwin Brown murder investigation; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of the DeKalb County Police 2nd police academy, Major Maddox has
accrued over 1,000 hours in specialized training and is currently pursuing a
bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Southwestern University in Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS,
outside of his demanding career, Major Maddox, a resident of Gwinnett County, is
a devoted family man to his wife, Debbie, and his stepson, Justin, and is an
artist (he created the collages displayed in the precinct) and an avid collector
of old police memorabilia; and
WHEREAS,
Major Maddox's many contributions to his community and to law enforcement in
Georgia have earned him numerous accolades, including the Choice Point Award
from the Homicide Task Force of the International Association of Police Chiefs
in 2003 and the Citizen of the Year Award from the Tucker Civic Association in
2004; and
WHEREAS,
after over three decades of exemplary service, Major Maddox is retiring in March
as commander of the Tucker Police Precinct.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join to congratulate Major C. R. (Rodney) Maddox on the occasion of
his retirement and thank him for his many outstanding contributions to
Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Major C. R.
(Rodney) Maddox.
