RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Mr. Robert E. Butler; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Robert E. Butler passed away on February 4, 2006, leaving an unfillable void
in the hearts of all who knew and loved this compassionate and loving gentleman;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Butler was born on November 24, 1914, in Haymarket, Virginia, to Archie and
Nellie G. Butler and moved to Washington, D.C., at an early age;
and
WHEREAS,
for over 60 years, Mr. Butler enjoyed an illustrious career as a chef in the
private homes of the rich and famous, even the Queen of England, all over the
world, leaving a legacy of professionalism and integrity to the many chefs he
trained; and
WHEREAS,
throughout his life, he was greatly respected by all who knew him for his
tremendous faith and determination; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Butler leaves behind a devoted family, including his wife, C. Butler; his
son, Linsey (Robert) Butler; his daughters, Rev. C. Diana Collins and Honorable
Sharon Beasley-Teague; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones;
and
WHEREAS,
as a husband, son, father, and friend, Mr. Butler touched the lives of countless
individuals with his generosity, devotion to God, and his kind and gentle
spirit.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in remembering and honoring the life of Mr. Robert E. Butler and
in expressing their most sincere condolences to his family and
friends.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. C.
Butler.
