RESOLUTION
Commending
Chief John F. Hay and the Tyrone Police Department; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the City of Tyrone is very fortunate to have at their service such a stellar
police department led by one of the finest law enforcement officers in the
state, Chief John F. Hay; and
WHEREAS,
after graduating at the top of his class at the 36th Mandate Basic School at the
Georgia Police Academy, Chief Hay began his career at the Peachtree City Police
Department in May, 1973; and
WHEREAS,
during his years with the Peachtree City Police Department, he held all ranks,
including chief of police, before joining the Tyrone Police Department in 1990;
and
WHEREAS,
in March, 2003, then Captain Hay succeeded the late Chief Roger Spencer as chief
of the Tyrone Police Department; and
WHEREAS,
Chief Hay has consistently provided exceptional leadership to his valiant police
force, even in the most trying of times; and
WHEREAS,
on January 2, 2006, the Tyrone Police Department went above and beyond the call
of duty to serve and protect their citizens in the aftermath of a fierce tornado
that ravaged their community, swiftly and tirelessly coming to the aid of their
area's distressed residents; and
WHEREAS,
throughout this ordeal, Chief Hay guided his force with the utmost distinction;
and
WHEREAS,
each and every day they are on the job, Chief John F. Hay and the brave officers
of the Tyrone Police Department courageously work to protect their fellow
Georgians, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that their extraordinary
service be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending Chief John F. Hay and the Tyrone Police Department
for outstanding service to the City of Tyrone and thank this brave police force
for its invaluable contributions to public safety in Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Chief John F.
Hay and the Tyrone Police Department.
