RESOLUTION
Commending
the Clayton County Juvenile Court on receiving the American Probation and Parole
Associatiońs
President́s
Award for Best Practices; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Clayton County Juvenile Court has received the American Probation and Parole
Associatiońs
President́s
Award for Best Practices in recognition of its outstanding efforts to reduce
recidivism among juvenile offenders; and
WHEREAS,
this prestigious award is given annually to honor a jurisdiction that has
developed proven practices that reduce recidivism and promote rehabilitation;
and
WHEREAS,
Clayton County Juvenile
Court́s
FAST-START Program has reduced the repeat offense rate of juvenile probationers
by 50 percent since 2003; and
WHEREAS,
this comprehensive program aims to target offenders at high risk for recidivism
and to focus resources and supervision on youth who are most prone to commit
serious crimes; and
WHEREAS,
in further recognition of the
court́s
inspirational success, Judges Steve Teske, K. Van Banke, and Tracy Graham were
invited to present a workshop on the Clayton County Juvenile
Court́s
innovative approaches to reducing recidivism among juvenile probationers;
and
WHEREAS,
all Georgians owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the Clayton County Juvenile
Court, whose laudable work has helped to secure a brighter future for many of
our
statés
most troubled youth.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending the Clayton County Juvenile Court on receiving this
inestimable honor and thank the court for its invaluable contributions to the
welfare of the young people of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Clayton
County Juvenile Court.
