RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of JoeAnn Willoughby Mitchell; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on January 1, 2006, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the passing of JoeAnn Willoughby Mitchell;
and
WHEREAS,
she was a woman of deep and abiding faith who was an active member of her
church, and she participated in civic organizations; and
WHEREAS,
she began a career as a nurse at St.
Marýs
Hospital in 1962; and
WHEREAS,
she retired in 2005 after 43 years as a nurse, most of those working in labor,
delivery, and the nursery; and
WHEREAS,
in honor of her outstanding service, officials at St.
Marýs
Hospital dedicated the renovated hospital nursery in her name, assuring that she
will long be remembered in the halls she walked for so many years;
and
WHEREAS,
her deep personal commitment to her duties as well as her great compassion for
the people she served earned for her the respect and admiration of the doctors
with whom she worked and love of her patients; and
WHEREAS,
she was a distinguished lady with a generous heart whose lifetime of patient and
kind service helped so many others; and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated provided the
foundation and framework of success in which all of her family members have
developed and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished senior gentlewoman gave inspiration to many through her high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens and she possessed the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of JoeAnn
Willoughby Mitchell.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
JoeAnn Willoughby Mitchell.
