House Resolution 1294

A RESOLUTION

Commending Mr. J. Steve Woodham; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, for several years, Mr. J. Steve Woodham, CLU, has been a leader to Georgia's insurance industry and a pillar of his community; and

WHEREAS, after serving his country honorably as a United States Navy pilot for seven years and working two years in banking, Mr. Woodham entered the insurance business in 1981 and earned his CLU designation in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Woodham, currently the Life, Health, Disability, and Investment Specialist at the Sumner Agency in Tifton, has been very involved with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) on both the state and local levels; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Woodham has served in all the chairs of NAIFA-Tifton, serving as president from 1985 to 1986 and currently as the president-elect for the organization; and

WHEREAS, for NAIFA-Georgia, Mr. Woodham has served as an area vice president and second vice president, and has led the organization as president from 2003 to 2004 and again for the 2005-2006 association year; and

WHEREAS, a greatly respected member of his community, Mr. Woodham is a past president of the Rotary Club of Tift County, the Range Officer of the board of the Tift Area Firearms Association, and a deacon and member of the choir at the First Baptist Church of Tifton; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Woodham continues to serve his community and profession with integrity and distinction.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Mr. J. Steve Woodham for his many years of leadership to the insurance industry of this state and thank him for his outstanding contributions to Tift County and to Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. J. Steve Woodham.
