RESOLUTION
Commending
Coosa High School for winning the Governor's Office of School Achievement 2005
Gold Award and inviting students, teachers, and administrators of the school to
appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Coosa High School in Rome has received the Governor's Office of School
Achievement 2005 Gold Award for Greatest Gain in Percentage of Students Meeting
and Exceeding Standards; and
WHEREAS,
the percentage of students at Coosa High School meeting or exceeding standards
in the current year is 90.74 percent, reflecting a gain of 8.36 percent from the
previous year; this change was at or above 97.86 percent of the high schools in
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
this school's excellence is further demonstrated by the fact that it met
Adequate Yearly Progress criteria in five out of five areas and also achieved a
99 percent passing rate on the 2004 Georgia High School Graduation Writing Test;
and
WHEREAS,
Coosa High School was the 2004 AA Governor's Cup Winner, with a 115 point
improvement on SAT scores from 2003; and
WHEREAS,
Coosa High School's outstanding performance and scholastic progress is an
inspiration to learning institutions throughout Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending Coosa High School on winning the Governor's Office
of School Achievement 2005 Gold Award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that students, teachers, and administrators from Coosa High
School are invited to the House of Representatives for purposes of being
recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution at
a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House.
