RESOLUTION
Commending
George A. Ellis; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
George A. Ellis has long been recognized for the vital role that he has played
in providing leadership and in serving the citizens of this state;
and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his years of outstanding service in law enforcement
beginning as a radio operator/records clerk with the Milledgeville Police
Department followed by his service as a Central State Hospital police officer, a
Baldwin County deputy sheriff, a Statesboro police officer, and a member of the
Georgia State Patrol, entering as a trooper in 1975 and retiring on December 31,
2004, as colonel; and
WHEREAS,
during his tenure with the Georgia State Patrol, he earned a bachelor's degree
in criminal justice from Georgia Southern College and a master's degree in
justice administration from Columbus State University, served on the Peace
Officers Standards and Training Council, was deeply involved in international
law enforcement exchange programs, and was instrumental in the planning and
provision of security for international events in the state including the 1996
Olympics and the 2004 G-8 summit meeting; and
WHEREAS,
his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivities have earned him
the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately
recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend George A. Ellis for his many years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
