RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity was founded January 5, 1911, at Indiana University by
Elder Watson Diggs, Edward G. Irwin, Guy L. Grant, Ezra D. Alexander, Marcus P.
Blakemore, Paul W. Caine, Henry T. Asher, Bryon K. Armstrong, and George
Edmonds; and
WHEREAS,
the objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi are to unite college men of culture,
patriotism, and honor in a bond of fraternity; to encourage honorable
achievement in every field of human endeavor; to promote the spiritual, social,
intellectual, and moral welfare of members to assist the aims and purposes of
colleges and universities; and to inspire service in the public interest;
and
WHEREAS,
the 54th Province Council Meeting will be held in Athens, Georgia, and the
fraternity will honor the late attorney Donald Hollowell whose legal brilliance
changed the course of history with the University of Georgia, opening
opportunities for all; and
WHEREAS,
the fraternity is dedicated to community service by sponsoring scholarship
drives, voter registration, feed the hungry programs, youth leadership programs
with its Kappa League, and other mentoring opportunities; and
WHEREAS,
Athens Alumni Polemarch Marvin J. Nunnally and Zeta Iota-University of Georgia
Polemarch Kevin Wilson will welcome Southeastern Province Polemarch Chester
Leaks and over 2,000 members and guests to this momentous
conference.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join to recognize the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., on the grand
occasion of the 54th Province Council Meeting.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Inc.
