A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Code Section 31-5A-3 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to powers, functions, duties, and composition of the Board of Community Health, so as to require that one member of the board is an educator employed by a local school system in this state; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 31-5A-3 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to powers, functions, duties, and composition of the Board of Community Health, is amended by striking subsection (a) and inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection (a) to read as follows:
"(a) There is created the Board of Community Health which shall establish the general policy to be followed by the Department of Community Health. The powers, functions, and duties of the Board of Medical Assistance as they existed on June 30, 1999, with regard to the Department of Medical Assistance, and the powers, functions, and duties of the State Personnel Board as they existed on June 30, 1999, with regard to the state health benefit plan, are transferred to the Board of Community Health effective July 1, 1999. The board shall consist of nine members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate, provided that at all times at least one member of the board shall be an educator employed by a local school system in this state."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
