A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend an Act known as the "Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority Act," approved March 7, 1955 (Ga. L. 1955, p. 2943), as amended, so as to change the provisions relating to compensation of the chairperson and members; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
An Act known as the "Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority Act," approved March 7, 1955 (Ga. L. 1955, p. 2943), as amended, is amended by striking from Section 2 the third undesignated paragraph which reads as follows:
"The chairman and other members of the Authority shall be entitled to compensation for their services at the rate of $100.00 per meeting, including regular meetings, special called meetings, and work sessions of the Authority and if approved in advance or ratified by a majority of the Authority, any other meeting attended by such chairperson or member the primary purpose of which is official business of the Authority. In addition to such compensation the chairperson and other members shall be reimbursed for their actual expenses necessarily incurred in the performance of their duties. The Authority shall make rules and regulations for its own government. It shall have perpetual existence."

and inserting in its place the following:

"The chairperson shall be compensated in the amount of not more than $1,000.00 and the other members of the Authority shall be compensated in the amount of not more than $600.00 per month for the performance of their duties, as determined by majority vote of the board. The Authority shall take no action to establish or increase such compensation until notice of intent to take such action and the fiscal impact of such action has been published in a newspaper designated as the legal organ for the county at least once a week for three consecutive weeks immediately preceding the first public meeting at which the proposed action is discussed. The Authority shall conduct no fewer than two public meetings regarding any such proposed compensation action. All such meetings shall not commence sooner than 7:00 P.M. No final action on such proposed compensation action shall be taken sooner than the second such meeting. In addition to such compensation, the chairperson and other members shall be reimbursed for their actual expenses necessarily incurred in the performance of their duties. The Authority shall make rules and regulations for its own government. It shall have perpetual existence."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
