A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Code Section 21-2-380 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to definition of absentee elector, so as to extend the time for advanced voting; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 21-2-380 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to definition of absentee elector, is amended by striking subsection (b) and inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection (b) to read as follows:
"(b) An elector who casts an absentee ballot in person at the registraŕs office or absentee ballot clerḱs office during the period of Monday through Friday of the week immediately preceding the date of a primary, election, or run-off primary or election During the period of Monday through Friday of the week immediately preceding the date of a primary, election, or runoff, an elector who casts an absentee ballot in person at the registraŕs office or the absentee ballot clerḱs office, as appropriate to the primary, election, or runoff being held, shall not be required to provide a reason as identified in subsection (a) of this Code section in order to cast an absentee ballot in such primary, election, or runoff. In addition, the registrar or absentee ballot clerk, as appropriate to the primary, election, or runoff being held, shall extend the office hours of the registrar or absentee ballot clerk for eight hours on the Saturday immediately prior to such primary, election, or runoff to allow electors to cast such absentee ballots. Electors casting absentee ballots in person during such Saturday hours shall not be required to provide a reason as identified in subsection (a) of this Code section in order to cast an absentee ballot in such primary, election, or run-off primary or election runoff."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
