A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Chapter 30 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to municipal corporations, so as to provide for maximum sentences of six months for violations of municipal ordinances; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Chapter 30 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to municipal corporations, is amended by striking Code Section 36-30-8, relating to sentences for violations of municipal ordinances, and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"36-30-8.
The right and power to organize work gangs or other means of confinement and to confine at labor therein, for a term not exceeding 30 days six months, persons convicted of violating the ordinances of municipal corporations is conferred on the municipal corporations or their respective authorities. In addition to other punishment allowed by law, municipal corporations, by and through their municipal courts, shall have the right and power to punish persons convicted of violating the ordinances of such municipal corporations by confinement or confinement at labor for a period of time not to exceed 30 days six months."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
