A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the "Georgia Medical Assistance Act of 1977," so as to require physicians that participate in the state employeeś or board of regentś health insurance plan to also participate in the Medicaid program; to amend Chapter 34A of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the "Patient Right to Know Act of 2001," so as to change certain provisions relating to physician profiles; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the "Georgia Medical Assistance Act of 1977," is amended by adding to the end of such article a new Code Section 49-4-158 to read as follows:
"49-4-158.
A physician, as defined in Code Section 43-34-20, who participates in the state employeeś health insurance plan as provided for by Article 1 of Chapter 18 of Title 45 or in the board of regentś health insurance plan as provided for by subsection (e) of Code Section 31-5A-4 shall be required to participate in the Medicaid program. If at any point a physician is no longer eligible or declines to participate in the Medicaid program, such physician shall no longer be eligible to participate in either the state employeeś or the board of regentś health insurance plan."

SECTION 2.
Chapter 34A of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the "Patient Right to Know Act of 2001," is amended in subsection (c) of Code Section 43-34A-3, relating to physician profiles and dissemination to the public, by inserting two new paragraphs, to be designated paragraph (10.1) and paragraph (10.2), to read as follows:
"(10.1) Participation in the state employeeś health insurance plan as provided for by Article 1 of Chapter 18 of Title 45, if applicable;
(10.2) Participation in the board of regentś health insurance plan as provided for by subsection (e) of Code Section 31-5A-4, if applicable;"

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
