BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 48-1-9 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the
"Taxpayer Bill of Rights," so as to provide that the Department of Revenue shall
not have the authority to employ or contract with private entities for the
collection of any revenue owed pursuant to any provision of the Georgia Public
Revenue Code; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 48-1-9 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the "Taxpayer Bill of
Rights," is amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:
"(f)
Any other provision of this title to the contrary notwithstanding, the
department shall not be authorized to employ or contract with any private person
or entity for the collection of any revenue owed or alleged to be owed to the
state or any political subdivision of the state pursuant to any provision of
this
title."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
