BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 1 of Title 2 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to general provisions relative to agriculture, so as to provide that
vermiculture shall be considered a branch of the agricultural industry; to
define a term; to provide legislative findings and declarations; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
1 of Title 2 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general
provisions relative to agriculture, is amended by adding a new Code section to
read as follows:
"2-1-6.
(a)
As used in this Code section, the term 'vermiculture' means the raising of
animals belonging to the order Oligochaeta, class Chaetopoda, phylum
Annelida.
(b)
The General Assembly hereby finds and declares that vermiculture in this state
is a growing industry and that use of vermiculture and vermiculture by-products
for the commercial purpose of producing agricultural commodities should be
encouraged.
(c)
Vermiculture and the processing, packaging, sale, and use of its by-products
shall be considered a branch of the agricultural industry, and the animals
produced by vermiculture shall be considered agricultural
crops."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
