SECTION
1.
An
Act creating the Board of Commissioners of Cobb County, approved June 19, 1964
(Ga. L. 1964, Ex. Sess., p. 2075), as amended, is amended by striking
subsection (a) of Section 8 of the Act and inserting in lieu thereof a new
subsection (a) to read as follows:
"(a)
Commissioners, other than the chairperson, shall be paid as their entire
compensation for services as commissioners the sum of $39,370.00 per annum,
payable monthly, to be paid out of the county treasury upon warrants drawn upon
the county treasury. The chairperson shall receive as his or her entire
compensation the sum of $115,460.80 per annum, payable monthly, also to be paid
out of the county treasury upon warrants drawn upon the county treasury. In
recognition of the additional demands placed on the time of the chairperson and
the additional duties and responsibilities of that position, the chairperson
shall be compensated on a full-time employment basis; provided, however, the
chairperson shall be allowed to devote no more than 15 hours per week to a
business or employment interest unrelated to the business of the board of
commissioners. Except as provided otherwise in this section, the salary so
fixed shall constitute the entire compensation from all sources to which said
chairperson or any commissioner shall be entitled. The chairperson and the
commissioners may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out
their duties. Such expenses shall include the following:
(1)
Mileage reimbursement for the use of a private automobile while conducting
county business;
(2)
Secretarial services, if required, over and above the services normally provided
by the county; and
(3)
Travel and lodging expenses and fees incurred in conjunction with training
seminars, conventions, or official county business conducted outside of Cobb
County."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
