A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To provide that the probate judge of McIntosh County shall serve ex officio as chief magistrate of the Magistrate Court of McIntosh County on and after a date certain; to provide an effective date; to repeal certain Acts; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Pursuant to subsection (g) of Code Section 15-10-20 of the O.C.G.A., the chief magistrate of the Magistrate Court of McIntosh County shall not be separately elected for any term of office that begins on or after January 1, 2009, but on and after that date the probate judge of McIntosh County shall serve ex officio as the chief magistrate of the Magistrate Court of McIntosh County.

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective upon approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.

SECTION 3.
The following Acts are specifically repealed:
(1) An Act to create and establish a Small Claims Court in and for McIntosh County, approved April 11, 1979 (Ga. L. 1979, p. 4431); and
(2) An Act to amend an Act creating the Small Claims Court of McIntosh County, approved April 9, 1981 (Ga. L. 1981, p. 4346).

SECTION 4.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
