| Atlanta - State Representative Victor Hill,
D-Clayton County, announces the passage yesterday of HB 1093 by the State
Senate sending the legislation to the Governor for his signature. Rep.
Hill is the sponsor of the legislation.
HB 1093 would put first offenders of ‘sexual offense of a minor’ on
Georgia’s sexual offender registry. Currently only 2nd offenders
and greater are added to the registry. The measure also requires the
courts to provide notification of a defendant’s order of discharge
and exoneration.
“This legislation will make the sexual offender registry a more
valuable tool by providing greater information to the community and law
enforcement in tracking these individuals,” said Hill. “Keeping
our children safe and healthy is of the upmost in importance and I am
very pleased the General Assembly adopted this legislation.”
Rep. Hill, a police officer in Clayton County, is Secretary of the Public
Safety Committee and serves on the Special Judiciary and Game Fish and
Parks committees.
