| Atlanta– Representative Gerald Greene
(D-Cuthbert) and Senator John Bulloch (R-Ochlochnee) are requesting Michael
Thurmond, Commissioner of the Department of Labor, to explore the feasibility
of a labor satellite office in Colquitt/Miller County.
“The need for this office to serve the Southwest corner of Georgia
is important to our region. Senator Bullock and I understand the necessity
of serving the citizens in our area and this satellite office would accomplish
those goals,” said Rep. Greene. “I would strongly urge Commissioner
Thurmond to explore these options because it would be such a benefit
to our community.”
Senator Bulloch said, “A new satellite office of the Department
of Labor would go long way to ensuring the citizens of Southwest Georgia
have a option to turn to when looking for employment,” said Bulloch. “I
hope we can make this a reality in the near future.”
According to Rep. Greene and Sen. Bulloch, the Chamber of Commerce,
the Miller County Board of Commissioners, and the City of Colquitt are
willing to work with the Department of Labor in securing this Satellite
office.
Rep. Greene is chairman of the House State Institutions and Property
Committee and serves on the House Appropriations, House Banks and Banking,
