| Atlanta — Rep. Barbara Massey Reece (D-Menlo)
recently had HR 1733 passed commending the Trion High School Debate Team
and inviting the team and its coaches to appear before the House of Representatives.
According to HR 1733 the Trion High School Debate Team has established
and maintained a proud tradition of excellence in debate competition
and this titanic team has completed another ultrasuccessful season by
capturing the 2004 Class A State Championship and by compiling a record
of eight wins and no losses in the championship tournament.
The resolution also says that the members of this multitalented team
are required to spend a substantial amount of after school hours in practice
competition and are selected because of their superior academic standing
and their ability to demonstrate their comprehension and mastery of numerous
subjects under pressure; and
Finally HR 1733 states that under the expert and unwavering guidance
of their coaches, Allen Hayes and Kevin Trobaugh, team members Ashley
Bramlett, Amber Compton, Roxxy Quinn, and Charis Sumner have developed
and refined the mental agility, verbal adroitness, and intellectual acumen
that are necessary for continued excellence in academic competition.
"These kids make our community proud and I thought it was only appropriate
that they be honored before the House of Representatives,” said
Rep. Reece. "Maybe they will be up here one day as lawmakers.”
