                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Code Section 40-6-70 of the Official Code of 
  1- 2  Georgia Annotated, relating to vehicles approaching or 
  1- 3  entering an intersection, so as to provide that when two 
  1- 4  vehicles approach or enter an intersection with a 
  1- 5  malfunctioning or inoperative traffic light, the driver of 
  1- 6  each vehicle shall be required to stop in the same manner as 
  1- 7  if a stop sign was facing in each direction at the 
  1- 8  intersection; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 9  purposes. 
 
  1-10       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1-11                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-12  Code Section 40-6-70 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1-13  Annotated, relating to vehicles approaching or entering an 
  1-14  intersection, is amended by striking subsection (a) in its 
  1-15  entirety and inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection (a) 
  1-16  to read as follows: 
 
  1-17    "(a) When two vehicles approach or enter an intersection 
  1-18    from different highways at approximately the same time, 
  1-19    the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the 
  1-20    right of way to the vehicle on the right, provided that 
  1-21    when a vehicle approaches or enters an intersection with 
  1-22    no stop signs or other traffic-control devices from a 
  1-23    highway that terminates at the intersection, the driver of 
  1-24    that vehicle shall yield the right of way to the other 
  1-25    vehicle, whether the latter vehicle be on his  such 
  1-26    driver's right or left. When two vehicles approach or 
  1-27    enter an intersection with a malfunctioning or inoperative 
  1-28    traffic light, the driver of each vehicle shall be 
  1-29    required to stop in the same manner as if a stop sign were 
  1-30    facing in each direction at the intersection." 
 
 
  1-31                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-32  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-33  repealed.
