                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend an Act creating a board of commissioners of 
  1- 2  Spalding County, approved February 5, 1873 (Ga. L. 1873, p. 
  1- 3  289), as amended, so as to change the compensation of the 
  1- 4  chairperson and other members of the board of commissioners; 
  1- 5  to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; 
  1- 6  and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 7       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 8                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 9  An Act creating a board of commissioners of Spalding County, 
  1-10  approved February 5, 1873 (Ga. L. 1873, p. 289), as amended, 
  1-11  is amended by striking in its entirety subsection (a) of 
  1-12  Section II and inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection 
  1-13  (a) to read as follows: 
 
  1-14    "(a) Effective July 1, 1999, the chairperson of the board 
  1-15    of commissioners shall be paid an annual salary of 
  1-16    $13,000.00 for his or her services and each of the other 
  1-17    commissioners of said board shall be paid an annual salary 
  1-18    of $12,000.00 for his or her services. Said salaries shall 
  1-19    be paid in equal monthly installments or other periodic 
  1-20    installments from the funds of Spalding County." 
 
  1-21                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-22  This Act shall become effective on July 1, 1999. 
 
  1-23                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-24  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-25  repealed.
