                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Code Section 15-2-4 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1- 2  Annotated, relating to the place of sessions and terms of 
  1- 3  the Supreme Court of Georgia, so as to change the terms of 
  1- 4  the court and the ending dates of certain terms; to provide 
  1- 5  an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 6  purposes. 
 
  1- 7       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 8                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 9  Code Section 15-2-4 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1-10  Annotated, relating to the place of sessions and terms of 
  1-11  the Supreme Court of Georgia, is amended by striking 
  1-12  subsections (b) and (c) of said Code section and inserting 
  1-13  in lieu thereof the following: 
 
  1-14    "(b) Unless the Supreme Court by rule or order chooses to 
  1-15    extend its terms of court, the terms shall be as follows: 
 
  1-16      (1) January term beginning the first Monday in January; 
 
  1-17      (2) April term beginning the first third Monday in 
  1-18      April; and 
 
  1-19      (3) September term beginning the first Monday in 
  1-20      September. 
 
  1-21    (c) Each term shall continue until the business for that 
  1-22    term has been disposed of by the court, provided that, 
  1-23    unless sooner closed by order of the court, the September 
  1-24    term shall end on December 20 16, the January term shall 
  1-25    end on April 14, and the April term shall end on July 31. 
  1-26    No judgment in a second-term case, other than a judgment 
  1-27    on a motion for reconsideration in such case, shall be 
  1-28    rendered during the last 15 days of any term.  Disposition 
  1-29    of first-term cases may be made during nonterm periods." 
 
  1-30                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-31  This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 
  1-32  Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.

  2- 2  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
