                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Code Section 32-7-2 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1- 2  Annotated, relating to public road abandonment procedures, 
  1- 3  so as to provide limitations upon abandonment of certain 
  1- 4  roads or streets leading to cemeteries; to repeal 
  1- 5  conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 6       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 7                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 8  Code Section 32-7-2 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1- 9  Annotated, relating to public road abandonment procedures, 
  1-10  is amended by adding at the end a new subsection to read as 
  1-11  follows: 
 
  1-12    "(d) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsections (b) and 
  1-13    (c) of this Code section, if the section of the road or 
  1-14    street system proposed to be abandoned is the only road or 
  1-15    street leading to a cemetery, then that section of road or 
  1-16    street may not be abandoned unless an alternative road or 
  1-17    street leading to such cemetery is constructed by the 
  1-18    county or municipality proposing such abandonment and that 
  1-19    alternative road or street is of equal or better 
  1-20    construction to the section proposed to be abandoned and 
  1-21    is maintained by the county or municipality responsible 
  1-22    for such construction." 
 
  1-23                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-24  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
