                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend an Act providing for a new charter for the Town of 
  1- 2  Siloam, approved April 4, 1996 (Ga. L. 1996, p. 4255), so as 
  1- 3  to provide for concurrent terms for the mayor and council 
  1- 4  members; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 5       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 6                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 7  An Act providing for a new charter for the Town of Siloam, 
  1- 8  approved April 4, 1996 (Ga. L. 1996, p. 4255), is amended by 
  1- 9  striking in its entirety Section 5.11, and inserting in its 
  1-10  place the following: 
 
  1-11                         "SECTION 5.11. 
  1-12            Election of the town council and mayor. 
 
  1-13      (1) There shall be a municipal general election 
  1-14      quadrennially on the first Tuesday following the first 
  1-15      Monday commencing in 2001. 
 
  1-16      (2) Members of the council elected in November, 1999, 
  1-17      shall have their term of office terminate on December 
  1-18      31, 2001. 
 
  1-19      (3) Beginning with the election to be held in November 
  1-20      2001, there shall be elected the mayor and five council 
  1-21      members for terms of four years beginning on the first 
  1-22      day of January in the year following their election and 
  1-23      ending when their respective successors are elected and 
  1-24      qualified." 
 
  1-25                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-26  Said Act is further amended by striking in its entirety 
  1-27  Section 7.12 and inserting in lieu thereof the following: 
 
  1-28                         "SECTION 7.12 
 
  1-29    Reserved."

  2- 2  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
