                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official 
  1- 2  Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to medical assistance, 
  1- 3  so as to provide for the payment of inpatient hospital 
  1- 4  claims; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting 
  1- 5  laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 6       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 7                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 8  Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of 
  1- 9  Georgia Annotated, relating to medical assistance, is 
  1-10  amended by adding a new Code section, immediately following 
  1-11  Code Section 49-4-145, to read as follows: 
 
  1-12    "49-4-145.1. 
 
  1-13    Claims for patients who meet generally accepted standards 
  1-14    of medical practice for inpatient qualifying criteria for 
  1-15    hospitals, such as those published by InterQual, shall be 
  1-16    paid by the department using Medicaid inpatient hospital 
  1-17    rates." 
 
  1-18                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-19  This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 
  1-20  Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. 
 
  1-21                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-22  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
