                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Chapter 5 of Title 29 of the Official Code of 
  1- 2  Georgia Annotated, relating to guardians of incapacitated 
  1- 3  adults, so as to provide for the burden of proof and the 
  1- 4  standard for the court; to provide for termination of such 
  1- 5  an emergency guardian; to change a provision relating to 
  1- 6  compensation for guardians ad litem; to provide that the 
  1- 7  court shall fix a reasonable compensation for a guardian ad 
  1- 8  litem; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 9       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1-10                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-11  Chapter 5 of Title 29 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1-12  Annotated, relating to guardians of incapacitated adults, is 
  1-13  amended by striking in its entirety subsection (f) of Code 
  1-14  Section 29-5-13, relating to compensation and expenses for 
  1-15  hearings, and inserting in lieu thereof the following: 
 
  1-16    "(f) The guardian ad litem shall receive for each day he 
  1-17    serves as such the same fee as is paid to witnesses for 
  1-18    each day in attendance at superior court judge of the 
  1-19    probate court of the county in which the hearing was held 
  1-20    shall fix a reasonable fee for the services of the 
  1-21    guardian ad litem." 
 
  1-22                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-23  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
