A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend an Act creating and establishing a civil service
1- 2 system in Forsyth County for the employees of Forsyth
1- 3 County, approved March 13, 1978 (Ga. L. 1978, p. 3576), as
1- 4 amended, particularly by an Act approved April 28, 1999 (Ga.
1- 5 L. 1999, p. 4925), so as to exempt certain employees of the
1- 6 sheriff from the civil service system and from any rights,
1- 7 protections, privileges, or right of appeal under the civil
1- 8 service system; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
1- 9 purposes.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
1-11 SECTION 1.
1-12 An Act creating and establishing a civil service system in
1-13 Forsyth County for the employees of Forsyth County, approved
1-14 March 13, 1978 (Ga. L. 1978, p. 3576), as amended,
1-15 particularly by an Act approved April 28, 1999 (Ga. L. 1999,
1-16 p. 4925), is amended by striking subsection (a.1) of Section
1-17 2 and inserting in its place a new subsection (a.1) to read
1-18 as follows:
1-19 "(a.1) Not more than five employees of the sheriff who
1-20 hold the rank of captain or above and who agree in writing
1-21 that they shall not be subject to the civil service system
1-22 shall be exempt from the civil service system and from any
1-23 rights, protections, privileges, or right of appeal under
1-24 the civil service system."
1-25 SECTION 2.
1-26 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-27 repealed.
