                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend an Act providing a new charter for the City of 
  1- 2  Stockbridge, approved April 4, 1991 (Ga. L. 1991, p. 4359), 
  1- 3  so as to change the terms of office of the governing 
  1- 4  authority thereof; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 5  purposes. 
 
  1- 6       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 7                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 8  An Act providing a new charter for the City of Stockbridge, 
  1- 9  approved April 4, 1991 (Ga. L. 1991, p. 4359), is amended by 
  1-10  striking subsection (e) of Section 2.11, which reads as 
  1-11  follows: 
 
  1-12    "(e) On the Tuesday next following the first Monday in 
  1-13    November, 1991, and on that day quadrennially thereafter, 
  1-14    there shall be elected three councilmembers.  Then, on the 
  1-15    Tuesday next following the first Monday in November, 1993, 
  1-16    and on that day quadrennially thereafter, there shall be 
  1-17    elected a mayor and two councilmembers.  It is the purpose 
  1-18    of this section to provide a rotation system for the 
  1-19    office of mayor and councilmembers.  The terms of the 
  1-20    offices shall begin at the time of taking the oath of 
  1-21    office as provided in Section 3.11 of this charter.", 
 
  1-22  and inserting in its place the following: 
 
  1-23    "(e) On the Tuesday next following the first Monday in 
  1-24    November, 1991, and on that day quadrennially thereafter, 
  1-25    there shall be elected three councilmembers.  Then, on the 
  1-26    Tuesday next following the first Monday in November, 1993, 
  1-27    and on that day quadrennially thereafter, there shall be 
  1-28    elected a mayor and two councilmembers.  It is the purpose 
  1-29    of this section to provide a rotation system for the 
  1-30    office of mayor and councilmembers.  The terms of office 
  1-31    of persons so elected shall begin on the first day of 
  1-32    January immediately following their election."

  2- 2  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
