                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Coosa High School's Technology Education Program 
  1- 2  and inviting Advisor Allen Gossett and Technology  Student 
  1- 3  Association President B.J. Albert to appear before the House 
  1- 4  of Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, Coosa High School's Technology Education Program 
  1- 6  was named the "Program of Excellence for 2000" by the 
  1- 7  Georgia Industrial Technology Education Association; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, the Georgia Industrial Technology Education 
  1- 9  Association is composed of teachers and supporters that 
  1-10  promote technology education in Georgia's educational 
  1-11  curriculum, and the Program of Excellence seeks to recognize 
  1-12  schools and teachers that have demonstrated high 
  1-13  expectations and performance; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, Coosa High School's Technology Education Program 
  1-15  introduces technology education as the students rotate 
  1-16  through 36 teaching modules that include aviation, 
  1-17  aerospace, computer aided drafting, engineering, desktop 
  1-18  publishing, broadcasting, and weather; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, the technology education program at Coosa High 
  1-20  School grew from 80 students in 1996 to 180 students in 
  1-21  2000, and a Technology Student Association chapter that had 
  1-22  only 12 members in 1996 grew to over 50 students; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, the instructor and chapter advisor, Allen Gossett, 
  1-24  was named Teacher of Excellence for GITEA in 1997, and his 
  1-25  dedication, ability, and encouragement continue to improve 
  1-26  this important educational program. 
 
  1-27  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-28  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Coosa 
  1-29  High School's Technology Education Program and invite 
  1-30  Advisor Allen Gossett and Technology Student Association 
  1-31  President B.J. Albert to appear before the House of 
  1-32  Representatives at a time to be determined by the Speaker. 
 
  1-33  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-34  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-35  appropriate copy of this resolution to Allen Gossett, TSA 
  1-36  Advisor at Coosa High school.
