                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Honoring Evelyn S. Wade and designating a portion of Georgia 
  1- 2  Highway 120 as the "Evelyn S. Wade Highway"; and for other 
  1- 3  purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Wade, who is now 90 years old, is a 
  1- 5  lifelong resident of the City of Buchanan; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Wade served 43 years in the Haralson and 
  1- 7  Polk County School Systems, both as a principal and as a 
  1- 8  teacher; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Wade ably led the City of Buchanan for 
  1-10  twenty years as its mayor; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Wade has unselfishly contributed her 
  1-12  time, talents, and abilities in many areas of community 
  1-13  service as a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lions 
  1-14  Club, and the Buchanan Women's Club; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, Evelyn S. Wade has dedicated her life to the youth 
  1-16  of Buchanan and to making the City of Buchanan and Haralson 
  1-17  County a great place to live. 
 
  1-18  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 
  1-19  GEORGIA that the members of this body honor and express 
  1-20  their appreciation to Evelyn S. Wade for her many invaluable 
  1-21  contributions to her community and to the State of Georgia. 
 
  1-22  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the east side of Georgia Highway 
  1-23  120 from the junction of said highway with U.S. Highway 27 
  1-24  in the City of Buchanan eastward to the end of the Buchanan 
  1-25  city limits is designated as the "Evelyn S. Wade Highway." 
 
  1-26  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation 
  1-27  is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate 
  1-28  signs so designating the highway. 
 
  1-29  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  1-30  authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of 
  1-31  this resolution to Evelyn S. Wade.
