A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Paying tribute to Honorable Romie Waters; and for other
1- 2 purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, Honorable Romie Waters will long be remembered by
1- 4 the citizens of Tattnall County for his exemplary public
1- 5 service as an elected official and for his vision and
1- 6 integrity as a community leader; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, he was a native of Tattnall County, who was born in
1- 8 Glennville, graduated from the public schools, and served
1- 9 with honor in the United States Air Force; and
1-10 WHEREAS, he served with the utmost distinction as the
1-11 Sheriff of Tattnall County for 24 years of uninterrupted
1-12 service until his retirement in 1988; and
1-13 WHEREAS, his very capable, honest, and impartial
1-14 administration of this significant law enforcement office
1-15 earned him the highest respect among his professional peers
1-16 and the citizens he served; and
1-17 WHEREAS, in addition to his career as an elected official,
1-18 he was an active participant in the governmental affairs of
1-19 his community where he gave unselfishly of his talent, time,
1-20 and energy; and
1-21 WHEREAS, he was an influential member of the Tattnall County
1-22 Democratic Executive Committee, whose understanding of the
1-23 core principles of that political party fostered good
1-24 government and forged good will; and
1-25 WHEREAS, he represented the very highest ideals expected of
1-26 an elected public official, and his contributions and
1-27 sterling reputation provide a model for others to follow.
1-28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the
1-29 members of this body pay tribute to Honorable Romie Waters
1-30 for his distinguished public service to the citizens of
1-31 Tattnall County and convey their sincerest sympathy to the
1-32 members of his family.
1-33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
1-34 authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
1-35 this resolution to the family of Honorable Romie Waters.
