                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending James M. Blaylock; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, James M. Blaylock is a native of Albany, Georgia, 
  1- 3  now living in Decatur, Georgia; and 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, he was educated in the Dougherty County school 
  1- 5  system, at Albany State College, and Georgia State 
  1- 6  University; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Warrant 
  1- 8  Officer helicopter pilot in Vietnam and was awarded three 
  1- 9  Purple Hearts, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense 
  1-10  Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign 
  1-11  Medal, and other Marine awards and medals; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, after his extraordinary experiences in the Vietnam 
  1-13  War, he joined the Veterans Administration in July, 1972, 
  1-14  rising to Chief of Prosthetics at the VA Medical Center in 
  1-15  Decatur, Georgia, and has become a leader in his field, as 
  1-16  well as the first recipient of the National 
  1-17  Chief-of-the-Year-for-Prosthetics Award in 1995; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, James M. Blaylock is the current National Commander 
  1-19  of the Military Order of The Purple Heart, the only 
  1-20  congressionally chartered veterans organization for combat 
  1-21  wounded, a founding board member of the Georgia Veterans 
  1-22  Leadership Program, and has devoted his time to the Marine 
  1-23  Corps League and many other veterans' organizations; and 
 
  1-24  WHEREAS, James M. Blaylock is the devoted husband of the 
  1-25  former Willa Bruner of Leesburg, Georgia, and the father of 
  1-26  one daughter, Heidi, who is currently enrolled at Georgia 
  1-27  State University; and 
 
  1-28  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-29  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend James 
  1-30  M. Blaylock for his dedication to duty, honor, and country 
  1-31  and for achieving the highest elected office within the 
  1-32  National Military Order of the Purple Heart, and for all his 
  1-33  contributions to Georgia, America, and their citizens and 
  1-34  veterans.

  2- 1  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 2  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
