Day 29 -- Today, concluding week 7, the House passed by a vote of 140 to 29, H.B. 309, which requires more information be given before a garnishment is met. Under this measure, if a bank receives a garnishment order on a person then they would seize all of their assets in financial institutions. There would then be a court hearing within 120 days to determine the legality of the order and if the assets seized are of the right person. The courts would also determine how much of a persons assets need to be paid out to satisfy the garnishment.

When there is joint custody of assets then the court would determine which assets would be seized.

The bill passed by a vote of 140 to 29.

H.B. 326 also passed today by a vote of 117 to 0. This legislation removes the 24 hour waiting period that law enforcement officials have before they can begin searching for missing persons who suffers from Alzheimers disease, or any other mental disorder.
