Georgia sportsman can now set their sights on a lifetime hunting and fishing license.
The House passed H.B. 1640 overwhelmingly this morning by a vote of 162 to 0. Under this bill, a lifetime hunting and fishing license could be purchased and would be divided into four categories. Birth to age 2 would be $200, age 2 to 15 for $350, age 16 and above for $500 and for senior citizens a lifetime license could be obtained for $30, and will not affect anybody who reaches age sixty-five by the year 2000.
The lifetime permit is expected to be very popular because the two years the state has had a sportsman license for hunting and fishing there were seventeen thousand issued the first year, and twenty thousand issued the second year.
On another hunting related matter, the House passed H.B. 1532 by a vote of 155 to 0. This legislation allows persons with disabilities to hunt all big game, not just deer, with a cross bow.
Also taken up today was H.B. 884, which passed by a vote of 151 to 8, and would deny or revoke a special license for people who fail to repay their student loans.
The House passed H.B. 1513 as well today by a vote of 161 to 0. This measure provides a tax
credit for qualified care giving expenses and is aimed at encouraging families to keep elderly loved
ones at home so the state can save some money.
