Day 11 -- The halls under the Gold Dome were packed with bright young faces and men who save lives today, as lawmakers honored Georgia's 4-H members and firemen with resolutions on the House Floor.

Along with saluting some outstanding Georgians, lawmakers passed legislation aimed at protecting the rights of motorists. Peace Officers would have to be certified under H.B. 190, which passed 154-17, to use a speed detection device.

Other provisions of the bill include a 30 day waiting period before a speed detection device can be used, if the speed limit in that area has just been reduced, and banning the use of speed detection devices within 300 feet of a newly reduced speed limit area, which is inside an incorporated municipality.

The Supplemental Budget, a revised spending plan for the rest of the fiscal year, is also expected to pass out of the Appropriations Committee today and could come to the House floor Thursday.
