HR 847 LC 24 0296 A RESOLUTION 1- 1 Commending the Douglas County Lady Tigers Girls Fast Pitch 1- 2 Softball Team; and for other purposes. 1- 3 WHEREAS, the Douglas County Lady Tigers Girls Fast Pitch 1- 4 Softball Team compiled an impressive record of 25 wins and 1- 5 six losses on their way to winning the State AAAA 1- 6 championship in 1995, after having had a championship season 1- 7 in 1994, when they put together a record of 21 and 5; and 1- 8 WHEREAS, in 1995 the Lady Tigers also won the Douglas County 1- 9 Invitational and came in second in competitive area play, 1-10 besting their already excellent 1994 season; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Coach Jim Brittain and Assistant Coach Chuck Palmer 1-12 led these naturally gifted athletes to even greater heights 1-13 through their combined coaching skills and dedication to 1-14 these girls; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Coach Brittain received 1995 Coach of the Year 1-16 honors from GACA for AAAA Fast Pitch; and 1-17 WHEREAS, the 1994 state championship was the first state 1-18 championship in any sport since 1964 for Douglas County High 1-19 School; and 1-20 WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers had numerous amazing players on 1-21 their team, but several stood out by winning all-county 1-22 player of the year awards: Christina Caldwell, Amanda Hart, 1-23 and Becky Willoughby; and 1-24 WHEREAS, three other members of the team received all-county 1-25 awards: Christy Bolton, Kasey Garmon, and Heather Crabtree. 1-26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 1-27 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend and 1-28 congratulate the members and coaches of the Douglas County 1-29 Lady Tigers Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team for their 1-30 outstanding athletic and personal accomplishments. 1-31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 1-32 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 1-33 appropriate copy of this resolution to Jim Brittain and 1-34 Chuck Palmer. -1- (Index)
