The "Predatory Lending" bill, referred to in the media, is actually Senate Bill 53 which is an amendment to the "Georgia Fair Lending Act".

  • HOW CAN I CONTACT MY STATE SENATOR or REPRESENTATIVE?

Phone numbers and address information, may be found on their individual pages. House and Senate links provide lists of members in alpabetical order and numeric order by district number.
  • CAN I SEND AN EMAIL TO ALL THE MEMBERS?

If you know the eMail address for every member then yes. On your system you could create a group for mass mailing that includes all of the eMail addresses of the members. Please note that mass mailings may be considered as spam by some internet service providers.
  • HOW CAN I KNOW THAT MY EMAIL WAS RECEIVED AND DELIVERED TO THE MEMBER(S)?

Most of the members use an "auto-reply" which lets the sender know the mail was received. However, note that the body of the eMail must explain completely any attachments. When an eMail has no explanation of an attachment then the entire eMail is discarded. This rule was implemented due to the numerous eMails received that contain attachments with a virus.

  • WHAT IS THE PAGE PROGRAM?

The Page program is a chance for students to get a first hand experience of their state government. As a page, you will work for one legislative day. Every page must be twelve years old or older.

The hours vary depending on when you page. Most legislative days run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A Page is paid $10.00 for their days service.

Pages are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Capitol. All pages must report to the Page Desk by 9:00 a.m.

The Page Desk is located directly in front of each chamber (House or Senate) on the third floor. An orientation session is held at 9:30 in room 341 for all pages. Here you will have explained the layout of the Capitol, where legislative offices are located, and provide a general overview of what you will be doing. It is recommended that every page be neatly dressed in comfortable shoes and clothing.

A certificate of service will be presented to each page at the end of the day. This certificate will serve as an excuse from school.

If the page program is something you would like to do, then contact your State Representative or State Senator. Each member is permitted ten (10) page slots per session. You may be put on a waiting list for next year or you may get to pick a day this session.
