HB 1164 - Serious violent felony conviction; deny 1st offender treatment (3)

First Reader Summary

A BILL to provide that persons who have been found to have committed a serious violent felony shall not be afforded first offender treatment; to provide for legislative findings; to amend Article 1 of Chapter 10 of Title 17 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to procedures for sentencing and imposition of punishment, so as to provide that provisions relating to probation of first offenders shall not be available to any person upon a verdict or plea of guilty to a serious violent felony; and for other purposes.
