1- 1 Recognizing and commending THE HERALD; and for other
1- 2 purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, THE HERALD of Savannah is known throughout the
1- 4 State of Georgia for its outstanding journalism, its high
1- 5 standards, its insightful reporting, and its dedication to
1- 6 community service; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, founded by Floyd Adams, Sr., this family-owned
1- 8 business continues to be a vital organ of information to a
1- 9 large segment of the African-American community and to the
1-10 community in general; and
1-11 WHEREAS, this outstanding newspaper has played an important
1-12 role in the life of Savannah for over 50 years; and
1-13 WHEREAS, the commitment of the men and women who make this
1-14 newspaper an outstanding member of the print media has
1-15 ensured their place in the community and has led to many
1-16 avenues of community pride and progress.
1-17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the
1-18 members of this body recognize and commend THE HERALD for
1-19 its more than 50 years of significant journalistic
1-20 achievements and for its many contributions to Savannah,
1-21 Chatham County, and the State of Georgia.
1-22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
1-23 authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
1-24 this resolution to THE HERALD.
