1- 1 Recognizing Mark Wills; and for other purposes.
1- 2 WHEREAS, from the time he was a toddler in Marietta, Mark
1- 3 Willis has entertained those around him with his amazing
1- 4 singing voice, and he was apt to burst into song at any
1- 5 time; and
1- 6 WHEREAS, as he grew older, his music matured and became more
1- 7 serious until, at the tender age of 17, he landed a gig
1- 8 fronting the stage at the Buckboard, a honky-tonk in
1- 9 Marietta, a gig that lasted for years of five-nights-a week
1-10 performances, until he was discovered and signed by Mercury
1-11 Nashville producers Carson Chamberlain and Keith Stegall;
1-13 WHEREAS, Mark is managing his career with a maturity that
1-14 belies his young age, avoiding the pitfalls that trip up
1-15 many young artists, because to Mark the music is more
1-16 important than the trappings of being an acclaimed artist,
1-17 and he figures that if he takes care of the music,
1-18 everything else will fall into place; and
1-19 WHEREAS, it is right and proper that this young man be
1-20 recognized for his dedication to his music and for the
1-21 pleasure he gives to his listeners.
1-22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the
1-23 members of this body recognize Mark Wills for his many
1-24 accomplishments and wish him success in the future.
1-25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
1-26 authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
1-27 this resolution to Mark Wills.
