                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official 
  1- 2  Code of Georgia Annotated, the "Georgia Medical Assistance 
  1- 3  Act of 1977," so as to provide for programs to enroll and 
  1- 4  reimburse for certain diagnostic radiology services under 
  1- 5  certain conditions; to provide for an effective date; to 
  1- 6  repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 7       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 8                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 9  Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of 
  1-10  Georgia Annotated, the "Georgia Medical Assistance Act of 
  1-11  1977," is amended by adding immediately following Code 
  1-12  Section 49-4-146.2 a new Code section to read as follows: 
 
  1-13    "49-4-146.3. 
 
  1-14    The department shall establish a program that will enroll 
  1-15    and reimburse independent diagnostic radiology services, 
  1-16    independent of a hospital or a physician's office, for all 
  1-17    services rendered to Medicaid recipients.  Nothing in this 
  1-18    Code section shall require such reimbursement if that 
  1-19    reimbursement would violate federal laws or regulations so 
  1-20    as to result in a loss of federal Medicaid funding." 
 
  1-21                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-22  This Act shall become effective on July 1, 1997. 
 
  1-23                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-24  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
