                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending Mr. J. C. "Carl" Jones; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, Mr. J. C. "Carl" Jones was born in Folkston, 
  1- 3  Georgia, on March 14, 1934, and, in 1952, he formed a 
  1- 4  partnership with his father beginning with one grocery 
  1- 5  store, and, by 1960, they owned six stores; Mr. Jones then 
  1- 6  purchased a partnership interest in Bacon Grocery Company, a 
  1- 7  grocery wholesale supply company, eventually purchasing the 
  1- 8  remaining interest in 1966; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, during the early 1970's, the company began a 
  1-10  convenience store chain named Flash Foods, and the chain 
  1-11  grew to 30 stores by 1979, at which time, Mr. Jones 
  1-12  incorporated Flash Foods, Inc., and, in 1981, he 
  1-13  incorporated Flash Foods Petroleum Products Corporation to 
  1-14  supply fuel to the company's stores and others, and, by 
  1-15  1987, the company owned 92 stores; and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, in 1982 the Jones Company was incorporated as a 
  1-17  holding company for Bacon Grocery Company, Flash Foods, 
  1-18  Inc., Flash Petroleum Products Corporation, and Big J Super 
  1-19  Stores, Inc., the original grocery store Mr. Jones owned 
  1-20  with his father; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, since 1987, Mr. Jones' business has expanded 
  1-22  through mergers and acquisitions to an astounding network of 
  1-23  stores and suppliers. 
 
  1-24  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-25  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. J. 
  1-26  C. "Carl" Jones for his abilities and business expertise and 
  1-27  wish him more success in the future. 
 
  1-28  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-29  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-30  appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. J. C. "Carl"
